Cash Sorting and Counting

Since 2003, PROTECTUS has been a holder of a license to process banknotes and coins issued by the NBS according to the §17f of the Act of the National Council of the Slovak Republic No. 566/1992 Coll. on the National Bank of Slovakia.

Cash processing services include sorting of banknotes and coins according to their denomination, authenticity and fitness, as well as taking unfit cash out of the circulation and passing it on to the NBS.

Although banknotes and coins are protected with security features, counterfeit money may also occur in the circulation. We therefore verify the authenticity of banknotes with authentification devices approved by the European Central Bank.

Cash processing services are widely used by our bank clients for whom we provide sorting and counting of banknotes and coins, ATM replenishments, cash recirculation and deposits to the NBS.

Our corporate clients, retail shops and service providers who mostly handle cash, also actively use our cash processing services.

Typically, clients' cash revenue is handed over to PROTECTUS and transferred to their bank account after processing, or kept for secure cash storage. Our clients can also use our transportation services, and we will collect the cash directly at the clients' premises.

As we want to make our services available for clients from all over the country, we provide cash processing services at two processing centers — Nitra and Košice. Both processing centers are equipped with the latest technologies, including the electronic security system, CCTV system and access control system.

We follow the strictest security measures, work procedures and security rules when processing cash. The premises of our processing centers, as well as the activity of individual employees, are continuously monitored. All CCTV recordings are archived as evidence in the event of a discrepancy — we do everything for maximum security.
